It’s Thursday, so its Art Day. The next 5 weeks are the pieces I would bring to the Excuse Me podcast. Its the larger version of MyArtBroker’s woman-on-the-street series where they quickly ask what piece of art you would own – and why. (Which is my favourite thing I discovered in 2025.)

My number one piece is “A Montrouge”–Rosa La Rouge by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. I saw it in person on a class trip in 1994 at the AGO and it has stuck with me ever since. The subject of the painting isn’t even ‘unique’ as she is in at least 2 other of his paintings (wearing essentially the same thing.) Nor is it even his most recognizable paintings which is likely one of his Moulin Rouge ones, but if I had absurd amounts of money, you can bet I would be calling up Barnes Foundation.
