Thursdays are for art. And while the plan was to do part 2 of the ‘Adam got invited to a podcast’ series, I took advantage of the dump of snow we got overnight and went to the ‘Saints, Sinners, Lovers, and Fools’ exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum.

Here are my 2 favourite pieces;

  • ‘The Barley Counter’ by Pieter Pietersz 1 (that hat would be stylist even today)
  • ‘Flowers in a German Tigerware Vase with a Bluebottle Fly and a Red Admiral Butterfly’ by Osias Beert 1.

Also, fun facts from the cards;

  • you could duel via calvary?!?
  • the King of Spain commissioned 60(!) painting from Peter Paul Rubens … to decorate his hunting lodge. His. Hunting. Lodge. What was elevated to being in his palace?? (Apparently a lot of his works were completed by his ‘workshop’ which would explain a lot of the throughput.)

So I guess, #goseemoreart
