Ugh. Took 3.5 months, but I missed posting yesterday as I was busy learning about the nuances of bootable traits, global scopes and database factories… .

So yesterday, being Thursday, should have been Art Day. In which I end the series of ‘What I would bring to the “Excuse Me” podcast’. At first I thought would bring the original cel (and background) from Akira showing the ‘Akira slide.’ I love that movie. And that’s the most iconic scene that has been homaged a billion times in pop culture since. But I’m waffling a bit on that scene.

I actually think what I want hanging on my wall is the cel during the chase scene at the start when they are hunting down The Clowns with tracers of light coming off the bikes. It is just visually great and I can ‘hear’ that scene.

A couple years ago there was a gallery show by Riekeles Gallery on Akira stuff that I didn’t get to in either Germany or Tampa, but they have some nice prints still available. But for animation/anime, for me, the original cel is where the collector itch gets scratched.
