I’m terribly behind on my mailing list readings, so rather than tackle them all at once they will be managed in dribs and drabs. First up Software-Testing.

  • An analogy about the different types of testing
    • Unit testing – checking to make sure that the car’s glove-box works correctly – opens, closes, locks, etc
    • System/integration testing – does the glove-box fit properly into the right place in the interior compartment – and still open & close
    • UAT – does the user like the car? Is it the right colour, does it go fast enough when they put their foot down, and can they fit everything they need to into the glove-box.
  • A presentation on Becoming A Better Software Tester
  • Some points that Pradeep feels contributed to the success of a consulting gig
    • Get my mission right
    • Collect enough evidence to prove a bug
    • Talk specific
    • Recover from my own mistakes rapidly
    • Learnt the product in a short while
    • Performed exploratory testing better than my previous attempts
