As mentioned here, the highlight of CAST2007 for me was learning the term ‘meta framework’. As I currently understand it, a meta framework is one that controls the execution of multiple, disperate frameworks and aggregates their output into a single reporting structure. But that’s just my current definition.

Talking with others after the presentation, there appears to be a number of these in existence. In order to discuss this further I have started a mailing list to discuss the creation and maintenance of meta frameworks. You can subscribe over here. Things I hope get specifically discussed are

  • A formal pattern definition of the meta framework
  • Creation language, and why?
  • Deployment tricks
  • Language choices
  • Making common components publicly available
