The Agile Roundtable Facilitation Method
Bret Pettichord has just posted his interview notes on how facilitation is done at the Agile Roundtable in Salt Lake City. It seems to be nicely scaled down variant of the LAWST Facilitation Method which CAST 2007 showed could scale up as well.
What I like the most about the Roundtable format is the inclusion of the ‘Aha’ portion at the conclusion.
At the conclusion of they meeting, they go around the table again and ask for “Aha’s.†This seemed to be Kay’s contribution. Everyone is asked to say, in thirty seconds or less, what was their “Aha†from the day’s discussion—what struck them as notable? During the Aha’s there are no interruptions. If someone has to leave early, they have to give their Aha to the group before they are allowed to leave. Sometimes people will come so late that they only get the Aha’s but this in itself can be worth the trouble of driving out to the meeting.
While this is included in the daily debrief of LAWST, I wonder how this could be incorporated into the CAST format as well.
