Mailing List Cleanup - DevOps'ish (Part 4)
(This is part of an open ended series of posts where I write down random things I feel are sharable from the years of mailing lists I’ve not caught up on…)
This is part 3 of DevOps’ish and due to the timebox I give each of these (ish an hour) covers mid-February 2022 - September 2022. There will be 1 more as there is a multi-year hiatus coming up in the list.
Here is Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
- Linus Torvalds prepares to move the Linux kernel to modern C – Spoiler, it happened. Always fun to see the thought process on things like this.
- Botnet that hid for 18 months boasted some of the coolest tradecraft ever – Just neat.
- You are responsible for your career. No one else is. – A reminder.
- A Warming Arctic Emerges as a Route for Subsea Cables – Love a good fibre routing story.
- Remote Development at Slack – I’m old. I think this is neat, but I really want to be able to develop when not connected to the internet. I know this is antiquated. Especially in the age of of either AI or AI Assisted development.
- Welcoming the AWS Customer Incident Response Team – Lots of useful links in there. A quick scan didn’t find the promised other links/tools though I am sure they exist.
- Why your website should be under 14kB in size – Slow Start is gonna get you. (Also, I really like the look of this site.)
- The Surprisingly High Table Stakes of Modern Blogs – When the table stakes keep getting more bloated. But also ‘The most important feature of a blog is its content - if you write good content, people will overcome almost any hurdle to come and read it. Don’t forget that.’ Yes. This.
